What is the Participatory Futures Global Swarm?

We are led by the vision to form a global ecosystem of participatory futures leadership for community-led action.

The PFGS’s mission is to nurture a global community that shares knowledge and experiences, and nurtures ideas to flourish towards co-creating transformative participatory futures:

- Across different ages, languages, cultures, and geographies
- Supporting youth, practitioners, leaders, policy makers, social innovators and the broader public

We boost curiosity and engage our community to navigate uncertainties using an emergent flow of participatory futures to refresh governance and enhance decision-making.

How did it start?

The Swarm started as an assembly of friends and colleagues who have come together to collaborate, scale and mutualize resources for big challenges, high impact participatory foresight projects and our shared commons. We are a geographically, culturally, and professionally distributed team of researchers, innovators, and practitioners whose plurality of perspectives have facilitated our collective creativity, enabling us to better formulate methodologies, capture discoveries, and perform analysis that best addresses the complexity of our contemporary challenges.

We’ve had so much fun and it has been so meaningful that we want to share this with more people and bring others into the fold. We also recognize that to make a bigger impact will require mutualizing energy and resources for shared projects and actions.

What are co-op focal areas?

- Community Activation - coming together with other practitioners to connect and learn
- Leadership Projects - championing PF in the world
- Collaborative Ecosystem - resourcing and connecting partnerships to grow shared potentials
- Impactful Education - building the foundations for PF theory and practice

What can I do in the PFGS?

- Being part of this group gives people the platform to initiate projects with other people in the global swarm and collaborate on shared Swarm projects. This includes:
- participating on PFGS projects
- proposing ideas for PFGS projects
- providing solidarity and support for swarm members
