In celebration of Earth Day, Greensville/Emporia 4-H is offering FREE tree seedlings and educational material for the youth and their families of Greensville County, the City of Emporia, Jarratt and surrounding areas.  Please register by answering the questions below.

First come, first served.

Please note that we will try our very best to accommodate your request, but we cannot guarantee that you will receive your first choice of tree seedling.

You will be able to pick up your trees and materials from the Greensville/Emporia Extension office on Wednesday, April 21st from 4-6PM or Thursday, April 22nd (Earth Day) from 8:30AM-5:00PM.  If a time is needed outside of this for pick-up, please get in touch to make other arrangements.

In an effort to let as many participate as possible, please only register for 1 tree per youth OR two trees per household (whichever is greater).

On the Monday/Tuesday before pick-up, I'll send an email to those registered asking if they would like extras if they're not all accounted for.  Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

      *Can be planted in any location; prefers riparian (creek bottom) areas; full sun; nearly disease-free                                                                      
       tree; height 50 feet

      *Good for upland and wetland areas; Fairly slow grower; male and female trees (dioecious); Female
        tree produces soft fruit for wildlife consumption when ripe, typically in September-October months;
        height up to 50 feet

      *Can be planted in any location; fast grower and early producer; disease resistant;
        excellent for wildlife; fast grower but shorter lifespan; height 50-60 feet

      *A deciduous evergreen; Grows upland full sun or wetlands; showy orange needles in fall before
       shedding! Fast grower; heights up to 100 feet

      *Common Apple is a small tree that can reach 25 feet in height with a crown spread of 25 feet.
        It grows in well-drained, moist soils. Showy, white, five-petaled blossoms, often tinged with pink,
        are found on the tree in late spring. The flowers are pollinated by bees and other insects.
        Self-pollinating.
