The Siu Family Charitable Fund Scholarship helps students from low-income immigrant families afford a college education. The dream of being able to pursue a higher education is a life-changing moment with a lifetime impact. Through this scholarship, youth in the community are being offered the opportunity to achieve success and develop their knowledge and passion into becoming the next generation of leaders.

Scholarship Information
BACKGROUND AND INFORMATION:
• Number of awards: 2
• Scholarship amount: $2,500 each

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
• Immigrant youth or youth of immigrant parents who is the first person in their immediate family to attend college.
• Incoming freshman enrolled full-time at an accredited two-year or four-year college in 2024
• A citizen, national, or legal permanent resident of the United States
• Current CYC youth participant
• Minimum 3.0 GPA
• Residency: San Francisco
• Ethnicity: Asian Pacific Islander

SELECTION CRITERIA:
• Immigrant experience(s)
• Strong family and community support
• Creativity and resourcefulness
• Personal strengths including maturity, motivation and potential to succeed
• Financial need
• Civic engagement and community service experience
• Leadership qualities

DEADLINE:
Applications and all materials must be received by Friday, May 3, 2024

APPLICATION CHECKLIST: Applicants are responsible for submitting all materials to CYC by the deadline. Incomplete applications will not be evaluated. This application becomes complete and valid only when CYC has received all of the following materials:

✓ Completed student application form and essays
✓ Most recent transcript(s) of grades. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable.
✓ Resume (include work experience, school activities, community service, honors and awards)
✓ Two letters of recommendation. At least one of which is from a CYC staff. Letters should be on official school or organization letterhead. Letters should be sent to scholarship@cycsf.org on or before the deadline of Friday, May 3, 2024.
✓ Benefactor testament

Note: Three to five finalists will be chosen. Finalists must be available for a 30-minute interview May 6-10 at CYC. If chosen for an interview, finalists must submit official transcript(s) of grades, SAT/ACT score reports (if applicable) and Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) report. Applicants will be notified by Monday, May 20, 2024 whether or not they have been selected as a scholarship recipient. Scholarships will be awarded at a ceremony on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at a to be determined location in San Francisco. **ALL WINNERS MUST BE PRESENT AT THE CEREMONY TO RECEIVE THEIR SCHOLARSHIP**
