Marriage and Family Enrichment Retreat (Miraculous Icon of St. Anna Visiting)

Join us for a marriage and family enrichment retreat Saturday November 11, 2023 at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church in Stroudsburg (135 Stokes Avenue, Stroudsburg, PA 18360).

This is a joint event, hosted by Holy Cross & Holy Trinity Orthodox Churches of the Stroudsburg area in the Poconos.

Our presenters will be Drs. David and Mary Ford from St. Tikhon's Seminary. With the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Savas of Pittsburgh and the blessing of Abbot Sergius of St. Tikhon’s Monastery, the miraculous icon of St. Anna currently at St. Tikhon's will be brought, and we will close the day with liturgical services in the presence of St. Anna.

All are welcome to come to the liturgical services at the end of the day, even if not participating in the retreat.

Schedule for the Day:

10:00 AM Registration and Refreshments

10:30 AM to 11:30 AM First talk, by Dr. David, on "An Orthodox Understanding of and Vision for Marriage," including about 15 minutes of Q&A. This talk draws much on the wisdom of St. John Chrysostom.

11:30AM to 11:45AM Break

11:45AM to 12:45 PM Second talk (using a handout), by Dr. Mary, on "Dealing with Thoughts, especially in Marriage and Family Life," including about 15 minutes of Q&A.

12:45PM to 2:00PM Lunch along with Book-signing

2:00PM to 3:00PM Third talk (using a handout), by Dr. David, on "31 Specific Ways to Enhance the Glory of our Marriage and Family Life," including about 15 minutes of Q&A, especially encouraging the attendees to talk about ways that they have found helpful for harmony and spiritual growth in their marriages and family life, etc.

3:00PM to 3:15PM Break

3:15PM to 3:45PM Continuation of Discussion

4:00PM Great Vespers, with Akathist to Sts. Joachim & Anna
