The Sharks Development Squad program is structured from the same curriculum as the SAP but the coaches have the ability to change the program where necessary based around the players within the group. This allows the freedom to concentrate on areas specifically, taking more time on parts of the curriculum that sees the players benefit or similarly excel.
Currently the SDS runs for U7, U8, U9, U10, U11 and 12’s .
The SDS train twice a week and play for their local club on weekends. They are led by fully qualified coaches that either coach at their local club or at a representative level. Alongside our SDS we have a goalkeeper specific group that is dedicated purely to goalkeeping, this is headed by our current 1st grade keeper Nathan Denham who has played and coached at an elite level for many years.
The trials for SDS will be run on the first two weekends in December.
7,8+9s - 2nd December 2023
10,11 +12s - 9th December 2023
For players in the SDS the goal is to see them grow as players and achieve making SAP or better in the future.
The SDS coaches work closely with coaches who head up the SAP program giving them the ability to identify young players that may may benefit from spending time being moved up either by age group or from SDS to SAP. The benefit to the player is that all of the programs at the Sharks are built to compliment each other in a tier system giving the opportunity for promotion.
We have found that the players greatly benefit from being in this highly routine and professional environment. Each year the skill levels of all players are increasing and to the Sharks this is what the aim of our programs are about. Making better Footballers.
