1. All students in grades 1–8 must participate in the live (synchronous) class sessions as scheduled.

Students in grades 6-8 may earn the right to work asynchronously as determined by their teacher(s).  Middle school students may become asynchronous by demonstrating the ability to complete coursework on time or ahead of the pacing guide and seek help when needed.  Unless students have received permission to work asynchronously, students in grades 6-8 must attend the live classes and/or help sessions daily. Permission to work asynchronously may be revoked by the teacher at any time if the student is not meeting classroom and coursework expectations.

Students in grades 9–12 that have not demonstrated mastery/proficiency or are struggling to master standards/skills in their assigned courses are required to attend live classes and/or help sessions during the established schedule.

All students in grades 6-12 are required to check-in weekly and attend class with their teacher(s) as directed

Students who accrue excessive absences (10 or more) and/or are consistently behind pace in their coursework after interventions are implemented may lose their seat at SCELA and be recommended to return to their zoned in-person learning school.

2. I understand that it is my responsibility to check my student’s grades in the PowerSchool Parent Portal on a weekly basis.

3. I understand that the main/official form of communication between SCELA teachers, students, and parents is email. I will provide SCELA with my primary email address and check/respond to messages from teachers daily.

4. I understand that specific pre-tests, unit assessments, final exams, CollegeBoard, and State mandated testing (including GMAS testing) will require in-person attendance. I will ensure my student’s participation in these required events and provide transportation to SCELA or another location for all required in-person assessments.

8. I understand that due to the nature of online learning platforms, parents of students at SCELA may not generally opt out of the use of photography, video and audio recordings for educational purposes.  If a parent seeks to exercise the right of not permitting the use of photography, video and audio recordings for educational purposes, their child will need to be served in an in-person environment.  Particular accommodations for limitations on the photography, video recording and audio recording of a student can be discussed and considered on a case by case basis.
