Project Background:

Our community has faced increasing challenges from natural disasters and climate hazards, impacting our daily lives and our children's education. In response, this initiative, supported by technical assistance from the EPA's Community Change Equitable Resilience program, aims to develop sustainable solutions to these challenges. By focusing on adding energy efficiency measures and improved ventilation systems to address wildfire smoke and extreme heat events, and creating greener, more adaptable school infrastructures, such as creating naturally shaded places on school campuses we can ensure that our schools remain as safe havens during adverse conditions.

Engagement Goals:
  • To gather community insights on making our schools more resilient.
  • To discuss potential designs and solutions that can be implemented in the short and long term.
  • To engage with stakeholders to ensure that the resilience projects meet the diverse needs of our community.
  • To compensate participants for their time to recognize the value of the community's contributions to this vital discussion (compensation provided for in-person participants)
Why Your Participation Matters:

Now is a critical time to start planning to make our community more resilient and make sure our communities will be safe in the years to come. We need your help to review the potential designs for an equitable resilience project in the schools and co-develop what equitable resilience will look like. Any resilience planning would not be complete without your experiences and your voice.
