About Mr. Myzie
Ed Myzie joined Troop 67 of Piscataway in the mid-1990s when his sons joined the troop. Almost immediately, Mr. Myzie became a fixture in the troop doing what he could to help oversee troop meetings, outings and administration, first as Assistant Scoutmaster, then Advancement Chairperson, and finally Committee Chairman.

Mr. Myzie had a passion for outdoor activities, and he passed on this passion to those around him. Even when his sons aged out, he remained committed at a level that either matched or surpassed his efforts while his sons were active. Under his leadership as Committee Chairman, the roster in Troop 67 grew to 30 Scouts per year, and Troop 67 produced 18 Eagle Scouts!

Mr. Myzie was relentless. He planned and led the annual ski trip, which gave most Scouts their first taste in the sport; he ordered and picked up trees for the Christmas Tree Sale; he coordinated and managed the Spaghetti Dinner; he directed the Aqua Camporee (typically on Father's Day weekend, thereby missing time with his sons) to allow other fathers to enjoy Scouting with their own sons!

Perhaps more importantly, Mr. Myzie always made time for his Scouts. From conversations with Scouts riding with him on campouts, to advising Scouts on Eagle Scout Projects, to showing up on a Sunday morning to a Scout's district award ceremony, to even sleeping in his truck so an ill-prepared Scout can use his tent, Mr. Myzie passed on his spirit of altruism and dedication to the boys in the troop. Countless important life lessons were taught during those times. In a way, he was a father to all the young men he mentored and guided through the program.

We sadly lost Mr. Myzie in 2018. The Edward J Myzie Memorial Fund is a way for his family and friends to continue his legacy of service, leadership, selflessness, generosity, and dedication to Troop 67.
