Current Program Offerings
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Stroud Center is providing highly limited and modified Scout education opportunities; we are unable to provide overnight camping and all programs offered prior to the pandemic, including programs exceeding 3 hrs in length and multi-day programs like Scouts BSA Merit Badges and complete Girl Scout Journeys. This includes the popular Brownie WOW Wonders of Water Journey (NOT currently offered in full). We deeply appreciate your understanding as we prioritize the safety of our education audiences and the capacity of our small education team.

At this time, we ARE excited to offer the following program options on-site at Stroud Water Research Center (Avondale, PA), off-site at an outdoor-only location, OR online/virtually:

- Boots-in-the-Water Stream Study Education (All Scout groups and ages).
- Service Projects like Gold Awards, Silver Awards, Eagle Scout Projects, etc. (All Scout groups on a case-by-case basis).
- On-the-Water Canoeing Watershed Education Program (All Scout organizations middle school aged and up)
- Cub Scout Science Everywhere! STEM Nova Award (1.5-2.5 hrs after school or on weekends).
- Girl Scout Think Like a Citizen Scientist Award Badge (Girl Scouts of all ranks, with content tailored to specific age groups)
- Trout Unlimited STREAM Girls (Girl Scout Juniors and Cadettes only) - Will be scheduled shortly for May 2022!!! Email mnix@stroudcenter.org to learn more.

All non-canoeing programs are 3 hours maximum during COVID-19.

COVID-19 Program Restrictions
Stroud Water Research Center is rigorous safety and sanitation measures that model CDC guidelines and the best science available on COVID-19. Program participants, including youth and adult chaperones, are required to help implement some of these guidelines, including:

1. Outdoor-only programming (except for access to indoor restrooms)
2. Face masks with proper fit (over chin, cheeks, and nose) are not required at this time for outdoor programs, but this may shift based on COVID-19 surges. NOTE: The CDC does not recommend masks for young children under 2, but the minimum age of Scout education program participants is generally 4 or older.
3. Half-day programs only (3 hours or less) and no overnight programs.
4. Signed COVID-19 Liability Form for all youth participants and adult chaperones (signed by caregiver/guardian of minors). Will be emailed to troop leader after official scheduling of your program.
5. No lunch or meals permitted on-site among visitors. Water and bathroom breaks built into program.
6. 24 maximum people (youth AND adults) per program, divided into two "pods" of 12 maximum people (youth AND adults) for instruction. Pods of up to 12 people (youth and adults) will learn independently of all other pods or individuals with at least 1 Stroud Center educator. Groups with more than 24 youth and adults will need to schedule additional programs later in the day or on a separate day.
7. Scout leaders and adult chaperones will assist education staff in enforcing COVID-19 safety guidelines, including proper mask-wearing and physical distancing.
My Scout group is able to comply with the COVID-19 safety measures and accepts the restricted program opportunities above. *
