This is the application for Bear Hug Cattle Company's Summer 2024 program. This program is designed to help veterans learn the skills necessary to get their first job on a ranch.
This program is extremely difficult and requires applicants to have high standards, determination, and work ethic. Our expectation for graduates is that they will immediately begin work on a ranch following the program.
We will spend a week doing fundamental horsemanship training, performing basic
ranch tasks, and learning essential ranch economics. After that, we spend 8-9 weeks getting on the job training at some of the most historic operational
ranches in the west. While working on ranches you can expect to complete tasks ranging from riding horses and taking care of cattle to fixing fence. You can expect to work 12+ hour days every day in remote locations. Cell phone service is limited for the majority of this program. This program is free of cost to all veterans.
The application will be open from 01 October - 01 November. After the application period, we will review all applications. If you are selected for an interview, you will receive an email with next steps.
