History of the Calumet in the Anthropocene

An·thro·po·cene  /ˈanTHrəpəˌsēn/
the current geological age, viewed as the period during which human activity has been the dominant influence on climate and the environment.

The Anthropocene Epoch is upon us and there's no turning back but we can make better decisions on environmental management by considering the lessons from the history of the Calumet region. The Anthropocene swept through the region like a hurricane during the 19th and 20th centuries, leaving behind a severely impaired landscape. The Calumet is rebuilding its environment and offers clues to the rest of the world on how to navigate the Anthropocene in the 21st century.

David McGowan, Ravenswood Media, is producing a one-hour documentary on the history of the Calumet region as seen through the lens of the Anthropocene Epoch.
