For the commemoration of February 1st, 2024, we've come up with a different format that combines symbolism and public awareness. We have therefore applied for authorization to occupy the public space in front of the Paris City Hall on Saturday January 27th, afternoon.

The idea is to give space to Myanmar artists and others wishing to take the opportunity of this public space to raise awareness of the situation in Myanmar. Would you be interested?
It could be installations, performances, music, live painting etc... The actions will have to be visible to all, as we'll be in the public space and leave no trace after our presence. For the associations concerned, our speeches will be very short (5mins max) and we'll be preparing a flyer explaining the situation in Myanmar to hand out to passers-by.
We chose the Saturday before the coup for several reasons, including the potential use by the press for February 1st coverage, the availability of people, and the possibility of doing it in the afternoon, avoiding the cold of winter evenings! The request was made collectively with ACAT, Amnesty, CCFD, Doh Atu, Info Birmanie and RSF; we will have confirmation of acceptance a few days before the event, but if this is not possible another place in Paris will be proposed.
