Training for Impact: Spring 2024 Cohort Application
Welcome! The Training for Impact is a power building and organizing program designed to give you the skills you need to build the durable people-power necessary to win a just, equitable energy transition and a healthy and safe future for our families and communities. This training is designed for emerging leaders in the climate movement: organizers and advocates with a minimum of one year of organizing experience who are looking to scale their work and/or deepen their ability to build the power necessary to win.

This program from the Climate Advocacy Lab will take place from March 2024 to mid-May 2024. The program will consist of an in-person kickoff meeting, bi-weekly online trainings, 1:1 coaching, as well as occasional pre-work and homework assignments. For more information on specific dates, check out the Spring 2024 Training for Impact landing page

Applicant Criteria
  • Located in the New England region (Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island).
  • Are a new (1-3 years of experience) climate organizer or advocate with at least one year of organizing experience - locally, regionally, and/or nationally. This is designed for people who are currently or looking to level up their organizing to building more power and scale their work.
  • Affiliation with an organization or community who can support your growth
  • Leadership or emerging leadership in the climate movement
  • Demonstrated commitment to racial justice and equity, social justice and intersectionality in this movement
  • Commitment to building sustained power, capacity, and growth
  • Proficiency in English (Program will be led in English)
  • At least 18 years of age (sorry no minors)
  • Ability to invest 2-3 hours per week in the program from March 2024 to mid May 2024 and commitment to community learnings

(This program is designed for candidates with existing environmental/climate work that they are looking to grow or scale, rather than new ideas/concepts that are in incubation.)

Please note: We understand environmental movements have perpetuated the marginalization of people and communities— including Black, Indigenous and People of Color, people from the LGBTQIA+ community, people from low income backgrounds, disabled people and woman. Equity means centering these communities and individuals in the work. These communities must be centered in this work.

Participants will gain:
• A foundational political education on racial capitalism and other systems of oppression
• A holistic approach to climate movement work that includes power-building, community organizing, campaign development, and campaigns.
• The ability to develop power-building strategy
• Supportive healthy, joyful activist teams focused on relationships, creating pathways for leadership development, and helping build a people-powered climate movement

The curriculum of this program will be:
• Building power through blended organizing models and strategy
• Campaign development, movement building and scaling your work
• Communications and Volunteer Engagement
• Integration of the different critical capacities of social movements

Trainings will be every other week on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 PM - 2:30 PM ET / 12 PM - 1:30 PM CST
*time subject to change based on organizers availability*
You will have post-session homework or occasional pre-reading.
This Training is FREE!

Please note: We are committed to building a collaborative, hands-on, non-extractive, and community relevant experience for all participants. This program will be co-created alongside participates through the application process and program (i.e. schedule and timing).
