By Discovery is an enrichment program of the Lincoln PTO that offers elementary school children opportunities for exploration and growth through creative project-based learning in art.

By Discovery is offered EVERYDAY school is in session, beginning TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 3, 2019 on the following days and times: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 3–6 pm & Wednesday from 2:30–6 pm

• Parents can receive tax deductions for after-school programs

•Two full-time partial scholarships (or part time equivalents) are available each school year and reduce program fees by 50%. A child qualifies for the scholarship if she/he receives free or reduced lunch. Scholarships are awarded in the order in which they are received (first-come, first-served). Additional scholarships may be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, should space allow following the start of the school year. Currently, scholarships for 2019/2020 have been awarded, however it is important to register, to reserve your space on the wait list, should a scholarship become available.

A $30 annual registration fee is required, payable by check to the Lincoln PTO, within one week of registration. This fee covers costs related to hosting By Discovery. Past due payments may render your registration void, opening the space for other families.

Monthly fees are calculated based on the days of the week your child attends and the total of those days per school calendar year, divided by 9 (September through May). Fees are pro-rated for those who enroll during the school year, based on actual participation days. The monthly fee for each day of the week during the 2019/2020 school year is as follows:

To calculate your total monthly fee, add the fee for each day of the week your child attends. For example, children who attend on Tuesday ($108) and Thursday ($102) will have a total monthly fee of $210. Invoices are generated via "Wave" online accounting and emailed on the 8th of each month. Program fees are due by the 15th of each month. Bank payments (checks mailed from your bank to By Discovery) are preferred and mailed to 803 Wenonah Avenue, Oak Park, IL 60304. These can be set up by you and your bank to recur monthly. Personal checks are also accepted and may be handed to Jocelyne at child pick-up or mailed to 803 Wenonah Avenue, Oak Park, IL 60304.

-A 2.5% discount is awarded to families who have more than one child enrolled in the program

-Enrollment is first-first served, unless there is a need to round out enrollments, should there be an imbalance that prevents the possibility for full-time participation. Enrollments are open throughout the year, based upon availability (some days may reach their maximum enrollment).  

-Parents register their child to attend on specific days of the week throughout the school year. We are not a drop by program. A one month cancellation notice is required

-Programming may include Half Days for Parent Teacher Conferences on Oct. 24/25 & Jan 30/31, from 11am to 6pm, for an additional $50 fee, (invoiced separately from the monthly fee) per Half Day session (provided there are 6 or more participants)

-Payment is due on the 15th of the month. If the 15th falls on a weekend or holiday, payment is due on the next business day.

By Discovery was founded in 2012 by Art Educator and Oak Park resident Jocelyne Adkins. She has devoted the past eight years to developing art enrichment activities for youth, as Program Director & Lead Educator for Beye Discovery, Program of the Beye School PTO, Oak Park. Jocelyne earned her MAAE from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She is inspired daily by children, artists & nature! Kim Becker holds an MFA from Yale University and a BFA from Massachusetts College of Art. Kim is a professional photographer and a skilled printmaker. She is a kid at heart who enjoys working with and being inspired by young creatives!

To register your child, please complete the form below. You will receive an email confirmation from By Discovery and 3 forms requiring your signature, to be submitted within 1 week of your registration confirmation date. Forms not received within this time frame will render your registration void, re-opening the space for other registrants. Registrations are 1st come, 1st served and space is limited to 20 students. Note: Even though programming begins in August, your first invoice will be emailed on September 8th. Families are invoiced on the 8th of each month and payment is due on the 15th of the month or the next business day, if the 15th falls on a weekend or  holiday. A $25 late fee will be invoiced for each month a payment is submitted past the due date's 3 day grace period. Thank you!
