God has blessed each of us with unique talents, skills and spiritual gifts to equip us as disciples of Jesus Christ who are called to be servants in ministry. We have also been blessed with financial resources to help support the ministries of the church. As we come to this season of counting our blessings, we in the church also prayerfully make our commitments for the ways we will support the church with our prayers, presence, gifts, service and witness in the coming year.
We know that the pandemic has changed our economy and has had a negative impact on many jobs, as well as the rising cost of goods and service. And yet, God still asks us to return a portion of our blessings to be used to bless others. Your contribution to the church's weekly offering Is the way our church pays its utilities & staff salaries, maintains and cares for the property, covers office and administrative supplies and fees, and - most Importantly - is able to fund the various ministries of the church. As we have experienced a decline in giving over the past two years, we have had to make difficult decisions about which ministry funds to cut. We have reached a critical point at which we can no longer sustain our current ministries at this giving level. This year, we are asking each household to fill out a pledge card indicating your anticipated giving in 2022 so that we can move forward with a 2022 ministry budget for Polk City United Methodist Church.
