Befriend Our Broadmoor Gardens
The BIA, in collaboration with Broadmoor resident Dr. Jelagat Cheruiyot of Tulane University, is maintaining the Broadmoor Food Forest, Broadmoor Food Pantry, and the Broadmoor Rain Garden in our community. Each of the Broadmoor Gardens offers several ongoing opportunities for you to engage with your neighbors and your local green spaces in Broadmoor. Children are welcome with adult supervision at each Broadmoor garden site.

Broadmoor Food Forest Garden (3730 Toledano Ave): An emerging community gathering space that features garden beds, tables and seating, and a variety of fruits and vegetables. Explore this thriving space with us and participate in some fun activities to keep this garden thriving! Produce grown in this garden helps us increase food security in the neighborhood. Contributions from this garden are given to our Broadmoor Food Pantry and friends of this garden who help out. This site is making fresh fruits and vegetables available to neighbors who help out in this garden. The Food Forest would benefit from engagement by you and your family!

Broadmoor Food Pantry Garden (2021 S. Dupre St, New Orleans, LA, 70125): This garden produces fresh vegetables and fruit for Broadmoor Food Pantry clients and friends of this garden who help out. Watering plants, tending to garden beds, and ensuring the area is litter-free are some of the fun activities friends of this space do to keep it thriving. Providing direct access to additional fresh produce for Food Pantry clients is what makes this site incredibly special.

Broadmoor Rain Garden (3601 General Taylor St, New Orleans, LA, 70125): Join our flood mitigation efforts here, this garden has water-loving plants and two bioswales. The Broadmoor Rain Garden has the distinct purpose of capturing rainwater that falls on the site plus additional street runoff to help reduce localized flooding and improve water quality.
