On Sunday, May 29th 2022, the mini-symposium of Cikananga Wildlife Center will take place!
During an afternoon, a total of 5 speakers will tell us everything about various topics that this center deals with, such as wildlife conservation, rehabilitation, breeding programs and education programs.
As a Wildlife Center in Java, Cikananga provides housing and care for confiscated wild animals (due to poaching or deforestation) and releases them if possible. In addition, they have a breeding program which focuses on endangered songbirds and the Javan warthog.
All their work in the center and around animal release projects is done with the help of the local people. These people are crucial in making their work in nature and animal protection successful.
The mini-symposium will therefore focus on offering an insight in how a multi-species center uses different people (locals, veterinarians, volunteers and trainees) to make their projects successful. Education and awareness programmes are also discussed and they will provide an insight on how you, as a (future) wildlife vet, could help!
Please note: some of our speakers are from Indonesia and will therefore give their presentation in English.
