PrideHacks 2022 - Project Lead Volunteer Application
QueerTech is looking for Project Leads to join the volunteer team for PrideHacks 2022! Join our team in creating a community-oriented hackathon, to help nonprofits overcome technological challenges and help serve our community better!

The deadline to apply to be a project lead for PrideHacks 2022 - Toronto is Wednesday, June 1 2022 - so don't delay!

The deadline to apply to be a project lead for PrideHacks 2022 - Montreal is Friday, July 1st!

A bit more detail:

As a Project Lead during PrideHacks, you will be expected to lead a project from assessment to final delivery, with the majority of the work taking place during PrideHacks weekend. The PrideHacks Toronto event weekend will run from Thursday Jun 16, 2022 through Saturday Jun 18, 2022. PrideHacks Montreal event weekend will run from Thursday Jul 28, 2022 through Saturday Jul 30, 2022. The hours required for either of the events will be the Friday from 5 PM to 10 PM, and the Saturday from 10 AM to 6 PM. Optionally, you may also attend the networking cocktail hour on the Thursday from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM.

You are a team player that can lead a group of interdisciplinary volunteers, prioritize tasks and have a decent understanding of the technical aspects of the project (but no need to be proficient in coding or the subject matter).

You will work with the PrideHacks Project Manager to ensure your project is completed and implemented with an assigned nonprofit within a month after PrideHacks is over.

Responsibilities:

Maintain ongoing communication with an assigned nonprofit
Understand the nonprofit’s mission and technical pain
Manage the project from kick off stage (after confirmation) to implementation
Manage the hacker team together with a nonprofit rep during PrideHacks 2022 weekend
Keep all project related code and documentation in a QueerTech-owned GitHub
Follow up with hacker team post-PrideHacks to recruit for implementation
Ensure implementation with the nonprofit and with hacker team

We are looking for professionals with some project, product or team management experience, but reach out if you think this is relevant for you even if you don’t have said experience!
