Action: Please sign the petition below to request MCPS and the Board of Education (BOE) restore the full 1 FTE staff allocation for the World Language instructor at Bayard Rustin Elementary School (BRES) for 2019-2020 . This is needed so our children may continue to benefit from weekly in-person instruction from a certified Chinese language instructor to learn Chinese.

Issue: MCPS plans to reduce the World Language instructor from 1 FTE to 0.5 FTE (full-time equivalent) at BRES. In a growing school expected to have 700 students by next year, this will mean instead of weekly instructional Chinese lessons, 3-5 graders will only receive biweekly instruction alternated by digital resources, and K-2 graders will no longer receive in-person instruction, instead they will only have weekly access to the digital resources.
