“As Episcopalians, through connection and transformation to take climate action, we give hope”
The Climate Connections program to address the increase in climate disasters. The pilot will be for churches in Episcopal Diocese of LA, providing activities for an individual church to help its members, for the separate churches to connect with other churches within the Diocese, and for churches to reach out to their neighboring community.
The program is structured to empower your church to recognize and develop your own capacity for resilience. Outcomes of program participation include:
- Understanding the risks in your community
- Understanding how climate change is increasing the risk and how we can combat climate change
- Exploring opportunities to reduce the risk through individual actions and through community planning
- Recognizing your own assets and how you can contribute in a disaster
- Sharing this information and looking for synergies
- Training in disaster mitigation to minimize the losses and build resilience
- Creating a community plan
- Practicing the plan through a community disaster drill
