Programming Board Interest Form
*This form is to show interest in doing our 2022-2023 board.

What is the Programming Board?

The Spectrum Center Programming Board is a volunteer leadership opportunity, with graduate and undergraduate students selected through application and interview. The Programming Board will plan their own events and support signature Spectrum Center events. Any University of Michigan student can apply, no matter your year or discipline! We would especially love to see graduate, nontraditional, and first-generation students apply to increase the visibility and participation of your scholarly communities in our actions.

If you are brought on, you would be one of up to 15 students who use those weekly meetings to set goals, strategize, plan events, and perform evaluations. The exact structure of meetings and distribution of work will be decided based on group preferences. Ideally, the Programming Board will put on three or more events per semester and attendance to events that fit within a member's schedule is expected.

There will be opportunity to develop or strengthen a number of skills, including:

Working with intersectionality as a major value
    Being socially conscious
    Self-reflection
    Collaborative work
    Effective communication
    Strategic planning
    Budgeting
    and more!

Depending on your academic and career goals, the Programming Board can also act as a resume builder, creative outlet, or an opportunity for intentional social engagement with a close-knit group of your peers.

There will be an interview (which is really just a conversation, so don't stress) after you complete the application.

We look forward to seeing your application and chatting with you! If you have questions, you can email Dyanna Bateman at dyannab@umich.edu or Brittany Batell at bbatell@umich.edu
