Thank you for your interest in the L1 Collective. If selected you will be incorporated into our third cohort, which is currently in the study group phase.
Please review our full matriculation process below and the duties of membership to be sure that you have the capacity for what's coming.
1. Complete this form. You will receive an email scheduling your 2 hour virtual orientation.
2. During the virtual orientation, potential new members will discuss 400+1’s structure, movement theory, trajectory and how they, as individuals, might contribute to and receive from the federation.
3. After orientation, a federation healer facilitates a guided meditation for new members.
4. Then, each potential new member evaluated for their capacity as a member of the L1 collective and given a timeline of progression and engagement.
This engagement begins with jumping into the "I Chose Revolution" study group on Mondays 7-9 pm CST. Study groups are remote, occur weekly, and until November 23rd. Participants are provided with pdf or printed versions of materials. FULL STUDY GROUP DETAILS BELOW.
New members will host full day disruption containers in cities in which they live. Our disruption containers are an attempt to interrupt harmful social conditioning that inhibits the capacity to lean into revolutionary politics and culture. They are also an opportunity to dive, emotionally and physically, into the concepts we cover in our study groups. New members are encouraged to invite their friends, families, and communities.
After attending disruption containers, participants will be invited to attend a 400+1 retreat where they will bond with other attendees, learn more about 400+1, and further explore their topic of interest. The L1 retreat will be held in Los Angeles from Nov. 9th to 15th. There will be an all federation retreat that doubles as an action from January 4th to January 14th in Austin. 400+1 covers all retreat related expenses including travel.
Finally, new members are enrolled in Praxis: A Phrontistery for Black Revolutionaries, a three phase project that includes a 1 year traveling residency, a three summer study intensive, and a 4 year residential experience at the L3. Individuals and families who commit to praxis are supported with free housing, subsidized meals, and a basic income program.
After completing one phase of Praxis, at minimum, individuals and families are assigned a permanent 400+1 placement. Placement options are as follows:

Title: I Choose Revolution
Time: Mondays 7 pm- 9 pm (Beginning on Monday, September 15th and ending on Monday, November 16th)
400+1 is excited to accept applications for its next new member study group! This engagement is a best of compilation of readings, questions, and concepts from our last six new member cohorts. Participants will explore:
+the intricacies and demands of armed struggle
+the viability of pleasure as revolutionary praxis
+anti-capitalism as a foundation for Black liberation
+how Vodou’s role in the Haitian Revolution can inform spirituality as resistance
+Afrofuturism as a political framework
+400+1’s transition from the reproductive justice framework to reproductive revolution.
+the juxtaposition of Pan-Africanism to Black Internationalism
+the history of global Black resistance and its relevance to 400+1’s movement strategy.
