About 317 Main's Teaching Artists
317 Main’s mission is to encourage creative expression, personal growth, and community connection through music. We look for Teaching Artists who are passionate about bringing 317 Main’s mission to life in their lessons and classes, and can create a warm welcoming environment for every student and family.

Teaching Artist schedules vary widely depending on instrument and availability, but typically include a weekly schedule of lessons and/or classes that change each session (4 sessions per year). Teaching Artists are also responsible for attending four seasonal in-service meetings each year.

317 Main compensates Teaching Artists is $44/hr private lesson instruction and $48/hr for Partnership Program and Little Roots On-The-Go (outreach) instruction. Group classes are paid on a sliding scale starting at $44/hr depending on enrollment. Other benefits of working at 317 Main include various professional development opportunities throughout the year and access to healthcare plans with employer contributions starting at 20 hrs/wk.

Teaching Artists report to the Director of Music Education for all programs, as well as the Partnership Program Director and the Little Roots Director for their respective programs.
