GECHS Sophomore Final Grading For Students Grade 10
The state has determined how students in grades 9-11 will be graded for courses they were enrolled in during this past semester. All students will be HELD HARMLESS for the grade they had when schools were closed on March 13th. This means that students' final grades for this semester's courses CAN BE NO LOWER THAN the grades they had when school was closed March 13th (third quarter grade). Students can, however, receive a higher grade based on work that has been completed during this remote learning time.

Also, in order to make sure that GPAs are not negatively impacted students have two options for choosing how they would like to be graded for their semester courses. Option 1 is that students can choose to have the numeric grade for a course. This grade will be posted on the student's transcript and WILL be calculated in the student's GPA. Option 2 is that students can choose to receive a Pass or Withdraw for the course. It the student had a grade above 60, a Pass-19 will be coded on the transcript. If the grade was below a 60, a Withdraw-19 will be coded on the transcript. A Pass-19 or Withdraw-19 WILL NOT be calculated in the student's GPA. Those codes will only count towards credits.

Our counselors  and Administration can look at each student's class grade and determine if it is most beneficial for the student to take the numeric grade or the Pass/Withdraw option. The state has asked that students and parents be informed and allowed input. This form is to allow students and parents the opportunity to plan for input or to allow the school guidance counselors to make the decision that will be most beneficial to the students GPA.
