Details:
As climate change continues to evolve at a rapidly increasing rate, so too does environmental degradation. The need for State accountability and action has resulted in three requested advisory opinions in various international bodies: the International Court of Justice, the Tribunal of the Law of the Sea, and the Inter-American Court of Human Rights. This event will discuss the ever-evolving state of International Environmental Law (IEL) with a keen eye to these three pending advisory opinions and the intersection of IEL, human rights, and State responsibility.
Lunch to be served and following the event, a reception will be held serving coffee and dessert.
We will be joined by the following experts:
- Moderator: Claudia Martin, Professor of Law and Co-Director of the Academy on Human Rights & Humanitarian Law, WCL
- Dr. Marcos A. Orellana, Special Rapporteur on Toxics & Human Rights, United Nations // Professor of Law, WCL
