The San Diego Breastfeeding Center Foundation has identified the need for increased diverse representation of lactation consultants in San Diego County, Imperial County, Murrieta, and Temecula. With very few BIPOC IBCLCs, a large percentage of our local population has limited access to IBCLCs who understand the unique cultural experiences/perspectives that inform their feeding and family decisions. We also recognize the unique barriers that BIPOC individuals face when obtaining the education and clinical hours to become an IBCLC. The Feeding our Future scholarship’s mission is to eliminate these barriers for BIPOC individuals who want to pursue their IBCLC, as well as provide an on-going support system so that they may thrive in their new career.
Applicants can apply for academic scholarships and support funds. Academic scholarships cover Lactation Educator programs, pre-requisites needed to enter an IBCLC program, and IBCLC academic programs. Support funds cover items such as books, childcare, exam fees, and other items listed below. You will have the opportunity below to select if you are applying for a scholarship and/or support funds.
