CREC International - Band Interest Form
Fill out one form for each individual musician you'd like to enroll in the Band!

Incoming Sixth Grade: Your Dragon will have one trimester of Band during the year. In these thirteen weeks, we will explore the basics of reading music and rhythm and connecting it to an instrument. Available Instruments: Flute, Saxophone, Trumpet, Baritone, Mallets. Students may choose to bring in other instruments such as clarinet or trombone, but they will not be available for rental from International. We do not start "drums" or piano in sixth grade - all percussionists begin on Mallets. By the end of the thirteen weeks, your musician will have the chance to audition for the "Dragon Band", an advanced, competitive, travelling band that meets three times a week during the school day all year. Middle School Dragon Band (6-8) is a full credit course with IB weighting that meets three times a week during the school day. There are two evening commitments per year (our Winter and Spring recitals), a non-mandatory competition (Six Flags), a parade (the Big E!) and at least six field trips on the schedule already, four of which will be to CREC Elementary Schools!

High School Band (9-12) is a full credit course with IB weighting that meets  three times a week during the school day. There are two evening commitments per year (our Winter and Spring recitals), a non-mandatory competition (Six Flags), a parade (the Big E!) and at least six field trips on the schedule already, four of which will be to CREC Elementary Schools! This is a direct pathway to the collegiate-level Diploma Programme Music Course which culminates in extended performance, exploration, and composition projects. This is a highly competitive group, and all members must come in with significant previous experience!

All Instrument rentals are $70 cash for the year ($40 cash for percussion sticks/mallets), and your first choice instrument is not guaranteed if you're renting from our school (first come first serve). What is your plan for getting an instrument? *
HIGH SCHOOL: Band meets three times a week (Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays) for all 9th-12th graders. MIDDLE SCHOOL: There are two ensembles at middle school. Blue Band is for beginners and meets once a week (Wednesdays). Dragon Band is for more experienced players and meets twice a week (Tuesdays & Fridays). Blue Bandos must be able to play the MLC Fight Song in order to advance up to Dragon Band (see the paragraph at the top of this Form for the link to music).
