Dear First Unitarian Families,

The leadership at First Unitarian hopes that our community will be able to gather for worship again sometime this fall, and we are taking a break from Summer Sunday School. However, that doesn't mean there won't be Religious Education!  

Our theme for the summer is Play, and I’m making available to all our families a SUUmer AdventUUre JoUUrnal. Each JoUUrnal contains 15 themes and adventures, and ideas for activities for each theme, but a child can do anything they’d like within the theme and it will qualify as an adventure! Parents, the JoUUrnal comes with sticker badges that can be placed in the JoUUrnal whenever an adventUUre is complete! Once a child completes 10 adventUUres, you can fill out a Google form, and we will mail them a gift certificate for a tasty treat!

While all of the adventUUres can be completed at home or even while away on vacation, I plan on our families gathering in small groups to have some adventures in person- for instance, a hike in the Bosque, a water play day, or our own flower communion. Families who have registered for the SUUmer AdventUUre JoUUrnal will be contacted to sign up for the group activity, so that we know we’re operating within the church’s Covid Safe Guidelines, even as that changes throughout the summer. No activity will be a drop-off, so that children can stay in their family pods.

I think this will be a fun activity for children and families!
