Participation in Cenizas
Dear friend! We are very happy to have you here. Cenizas is by far our most ambitious project and we are thrilled to launch its foruth edition.
We'd like to know some things about you and your balfolk life.
All the information you need is here:

Who are the Kamikazes/participants? Well, you'll see it's a very diverse crowd: people who are very expert dancers, or beginners, balfolk promoters... It's simply a way to participate to the residency without bringing a workshop from home. It's not really a matter of dancing skills, it's more about a committment to an event. So, as a general profile, you may be:
- a dancer who wants to improve knowledge and technique
- a weirdo who wants to dance almost non-stop for 8 days with a lot of people as crazy as you
- a teacher who wants to improve your pedagogy
- a promoter from a new, small scene who wants to see it grow
- all of the previous ones

What is not clear is the timeline, we'll try to be more clear: we'll make a few rounds for the selection of participants/kamikazes, until we fill all the available spots (15). This means that if you are not sure, you don't have to respect the first deadline (May 31) and you will be able to apply later than that date. However, please know that the spots may be filled even in the first row, so we suggest you not to wait too long.

Your role in the residency will be to participate with enthusiasm. You'll be able to involve yourself as much as you like, you'll be asked to create and teach some workshops and you'll be free to say "no, thanks", as you'll be free to skip some orga session that doesn't feel for you. However, we strongly suggest you to embrace the whole experience, since it's an intensive one and these things work in an exponential way: the deeper you dive, the bigger is the impact on you. And vice versa, of course.
So, how does the selection go? Which are the criteria? Well, it's a bit of a self-selection. We only rejected some applications of people who were clearly not aware of what they were looking forward to.
Generally speaking, if you apply you are in. However, if we are in the third row with 3 spots and 7 candidatures, we'll have to choose and we'll go for the most motivated.

Another very practical thing: the fee.
We suggest 3 prices fro the participation in Cenizas, they include:
- participation to all activities of Cenizas Residency (November 16-22)
- participation to all activities of the Fénix Festival (November 22-24), that costs 150€ alone
- food and accommodation for 8 days.

So, the participation fee is not low, we know that (plus the travel etc). But what's included is really a lot.
You'll be asked to choose your fee: reduced, standard and generous.
The reduced fee covers basically the raw costs, and we really suggest it only if you really can't pay more than that. The standard fee allows to cover something more (the travels for the main teachers, for example) and it's the price that would make the event sustainable, in case everyone paid it. The generous fee would the payment of a small cachet for the main teacher and a small payment for the organisation, if everybody choose it.
So, to be clear: we are not profiting from this event, we do it because we love it and because we learn A LOT from it.
Also, we will not ask you what and why for your choice: it's yours, you won't have to answer for that.

And that's it, tell us about you!

Privacy reminder: any personal data is required only to be able to write you back, make suggestions, ask for clarifications. It will be stored in our database and we will NOT use it for anything but Cenizas. If you prefer, we will delete it as soon as you ask, and it will be deleted anyway 5 years after Cenizas.
