From Overtourism to Regenerative Urban Tourism? Open lecture by dr. Ko Koens

Erasmushogeschool Brussel en weKONEKT.brussels warmly invite you to the open lecture on regenerative urban tourism by dr. Ko Koens on Tuesday, 28 March 2023 at EhB Campus Kanal.

Ko Koens, Professor of New Urban Tourism at InHolland University of Applied Sciences in Rotterdam, will share his insights on regenerative urban tourism in the broader framework of the course Tourism and Leisure Futures of the Tourism and Recreation Management programme at the Erasmus Brussels University of Applied Sciences and Arts (Erasmushogeschool Brussel).

During the COVID pandemic, there were several calls to ‘build back better’ to prevent overtourism and have tourism contribute to local quality of life, especially in urban contexts. Increasingly, the term regenerative tourism is used to describe such efforts. In this guest lecture, Ko Koens will (shortly) discuss overtourism, how regenerative tourism differs from other types of sustainable tourism and provide some ideas on how to actually come to regenerative urban tourism in practice.
