Request for Honors Internship Credit
ELIGIBILITY
Internship credit (IDH4940) is available for Honors students pursuing an interdisciplinary internship or Honors students that are ineligible for internship credit through their department. Students must properly research and vet an internship site before confirming participation and requesting credit. Please note, the University has no control or oversight of the internship site.

To be eligible, the internship must-
- consist of hands-on, practical experience that incorporates knowledge and theory learned in the classroom
- provide skills and knowledge transferable to other opportunities
- center around defined learning objectives related to professional/personal goals
- be supervised by an established professional
- not be a continuation of a previous internship

APPLICATION
The application deadline is 3 weeks after add/drop during the term you are interning. Note: There is a late fee assessed by the Registrar’s Office for students who register during add/drop or later if they are not previously registered for classes that semester.

The application is multipart; all parts must be submitted before the application will be considered.
A complete application includes-
(1) the application form below;
(2) an email sent from your immediate supervisor to Kristy Spear (kspear@honors.ufl.edu) that confirms your internship position, the average number of hours per week you will work, and the length of the internship.
(3)  If applicable- College of Journalism and Communications students are required to submit a letter from an academic advisor or department chair approving the credit with their application.

APPROVAL/DENIAL
Approval is not guaranteed. Experience, number of credits, and minimum GPA (3.0) will be considered. Shadowing, research, part-time jobs, and internships consisting of only clerical duties do not qualify for this credit. Your Supervisor may not be a family member. The Honors Program will not award credit for an internship if you are receiving credit from another department.

You will be notified of your status within 2 business days of receiving a completed application. If your application is approved, you will be registered for the requested number of credits and added to the Canvas site associated with the credit.

CREDITS
Number of credits awarded will be determined by the number of internship hours you will work during the semester. Normal tuition applies. If you are unable to complete the necessary hours, you must drop the course.
