I See Me, Inc. wants to honor the individuals and organizations who have exhibited influential service, practices, or efforts that have greatly impacted reading literacy in our community and beyond. We invite you to submit your nominations for this year’s honorees to be presented at the 2nd Annual “I See Me, Inc. Literacy Reception”, which will take place Wednesday, June 21st at Kress BHM in Birmingham, Al. The three finalists from each category will receive (2) tickets to the “I See Me, Inc. Literacy Summit and Reception”. Winners will be announced during the “I See Me, Inc Literacy Reception.” The youth winners will be announced during the “I See Me, Inc. Literacy Summit,” June 22nd.

“Lit” Award (Significant Contribution to Literacy by an Individual) This award is for an individual who is initiating and leading action(s) to remove barriers, improve, and create an environment where children feel a sense of belonging and feel empowered to be their authentic selves, and feel that they have a voice in this world due to literacy.

“Lit” Award (Significant Contribution to Literacy by a Company / Organization ) This award is for a individual (adult) who is initiating and leading action(s) to remove barriers, improve, and create an environment where children feel a sense of belonging and feel impowered to be their authentic selves, and feel that they have a voice in this world due to literacy.

I See Me Award (ADULT Author) This award is for an adult author who has written a “mirror” book that represents Black, Indigenous, people of color. A mirror book reflects the reader’s own race, culture, family, religion and helps to build a positive identity for the reader.

I See Me Award (YOUTH Author) This award is for a child author who has written a “mirror” book that represents Black, Indigenous, people of color. A mirror book reflects the reader’s own race, culture, family, religion and helps to build a positive identity for the reader.

Torch of Literacy (School) This award is for a school who has developed a culture of reading literacy into the fabric of their school. This school uses creative means to get their students engaged and excited about reading. They have seen a significant difference in the literacy achievement of their students.
