The following selection sheet is used to help determine elective courses for your child.

Please note the following information about academic core classes.


ELA:
A few items will be taken into consideration when placing your child in ELA (Intensive, Regular, Advanced/Cambridge). We will consider your child's placement and grades in the current (2019-2020) school year, as well teacher and district recommendation.

*****All 8th grade Cambridge ELA students will have 1 period of Language Arts, and 1 period of Global Perspectives, which is a high school credit course.*****

MATH:
A few items will be taken into consideration when placing your child in MATH. We will consider your child's placement and grades in the current (2019-2020) school year, as well teacher and district recommendation. Students are placed into one the following courses in 8th grade for Math, Pre-Algebra/Intensive math, Algebra 1A and 1B, Algebra 1 or Algebra 1 Honors. Below are the usual criteria for student placement. We will also be using the criteria mentioned above to place them for the 2020-2021 school year.
 
•Students with an FSA MATH level 1, or 2 will be scheduled into one period of Pre-Algebra and one period of Intensive Math.

•Students with an FSA Math level of a 3 will be scheduled into a two period Algebra 1A and 1B class.  This is a high school 2 credit course.  Students will take the Algebra I EOC at the end of the year.

•Students with an FSA Math level 4 or 5 will be scheduled into a one period Algebra or Algebra I Honors course.  This is a high school 1 credit course.  Students will take the Algebra I EOC at the end of the year.



*Please note that students in Intensive, Regular and Advanced levels will have 2 periods of ELA classes.*
