Mind Body Spirit Lab Masterclass (1st May)
The pandemic has impacted all of our lives in multiple ways. During periods of stress, the physiological effects of our bodies’ prolonged stress response can create a multitude of health problems over time. Chronic pain, anxiety, mood swings, and gut inflammation can be signs of nervous system fatigue. The need to prioritize effective ways to regulate our stress response, improve well-being, and build resilience, is therefore, paramount.
The good news is that we have an inbuilt mechanism to regulate how we respond to stress - the Vagus Nerve. In fact, due to the importance of this single nerve, stimulation of the Vagus Nerve through surgically implanted electronic devices is being done in the treatment of conditions such as epilepsy and depression. Further research is being conducted into its use in the treatment of several other conditions including autoimmune diseases like tinnitus and fibromyalgia as well as lifestyle induced non-communicable conditions such as hypertension, migraines, and even obesity. If you are looking to connect with yourself better, and learn non-invasive, cost-effective, time-tested ways to help yourself live a better life, then this experiential workshop is for you.

We will explore:
- The nature of mind, body and spirit/consciousness and how we can use them to our advantage;
- The body’s natural regulatory system: the Vagus Nerve and its function in the stress response;
- Simple practices to stimulate the Vagus Nerve naturally and;
- Effective Mindfulness based Cognitive and Behavioral techniques to facilitate a healthier stress response; decrease physical and emotional distress and boost overall healing.

Preparation required:
- Empty stomach condition (can have light breakfast at least 2.5hrs before class).
- Loose, comfortable clothing which allows for stretching and relaxing.
- Yoga mat/large bath towel to practice on (can use chair/firm cushion to sit on during lecture/reflection portion).
- Laptop/phone with good Wi-Fi connection set up on a firm surface + speakers.
- Writing material for notes and reflections.

Participants limited to 20 only to allow for individual attention and Q&A.

The workshop will be led by Angelica, who is a practitioner of Eastern Psychology with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a master’s degree in Integrated Approach to Yoga Therapy with clinical training from the Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana, India. Author of The Vedic Science of Personal Advancement, Angelica is passionate about combining the best of Western sciences with Eastern Practices to curate healing modules, which she enjoys sharing in private, organizational, clinical, humanitarian and educational settings.
She has facilitated masterclasses, workshops, and retreats in India and Sri Lanka, aimed at human prospering through fine tuning the art of living. She has an intuitive approach to teaching, and draws on her ever-expanding study and training in Buddhist, Vedic and Yoga Philosophy & Practices and Energy Psychology to offer a holistic healing experience. Angelica currently works as a Holistic Therapist, Teacher & Trainer based in Mount Lavinia, Sri Lanka.
