As part of our continued efforts to raise standards of literacy in school, we are hoping to organise volunteers to come in and hear children read. Reading regularly and discussing a text with an adult has been shown to significantly increase the rate of progress throughout the whole curriculum; therefore, it would be wonderful to have a volunteer supporting in every year group for an hour or two each week.

We are also interested in any other ‘superpowers’ that you would be willing to share with us, such as gardening, sewing, cooking, mathematics etc.

We will be asking for volunteers to commit to a regular weekly slot for reading. We will arrange safeguarding checks ASAP for those who come forward.
