Placing flowers by the altar on Sunday mornings is a wonderful way to celebrate and remember the life of a loved one or of an important event.
As many of you know that the cost for everything has gone up recently, and this includes the cost of the flower arrangements we adorn our altar with on Sundays. At the same time, we’ve had a decrease in the number of parishioners contributing to our flower arrangements by sponsoring dedications on Sundays. In 2023, the gap between income brought in for flower donations and the cost of weekly arrangements was nearly $2500.
After prayerful consideration, we’ve decided to change how we adorn our altar for worship. Beginning in January 2024, we will have real flower arrangements on the first Sunday of each month, delivered by Green Meadow Florist. On that first Sunday, we will list all the flower sponsor dedications we’ve collected money for in that month. On the other Sundays, we will use either live green plants or faux flower arrangements to decorate our altar space.
We will still collect donations from parishioners to sponsor flowers for life events they want recognized. We will continue with the $25 contribution to sponsor flowers, and place a fresh cut arrangement once per month to acknowledge those who we are remembering, thanking for and honoring.
Below is a calendar to sign-up for the fresh flower sponsorships each month. Please select a month you would like to sponsor flowers and then mark your dedication as you would like it printed in the bulletin that week.
Flowers may be given in memory of (M), in thanksgiving for (T), or in honor of (H) your special person or event.
The cost is $25.00; however, you may list more than one name on any given week. Multiply the total number of reserved Sundays by $25.00. Write your check (or use this PayPal Link) for the total amount, to “St. John’s Concord” and mark Altar Flowers on the memo line.
Put your check in the offering plate on Sunday, bring it to the church office or mail it to Saint John's Episcopal Church, 576 Concord Road, Glen Mills, PA 19342.
