À l’occasion de l’exposition « Alberto Giacometti / André Breton, amitiés surréalistes », l’Institut Giacometti propose, en partenariat avec l'Association Atelier André Breton et la collection Phares, une programmation de films documentaires consacrés aux artistes et écrivains surréalistes : Jacqueline Lamba, Max Ernst, Claude Cahun, Victor Brauner, Dora Maar, Yves Tanguy et André Breton.

Né en Roumanie, Victor Brauner participe d'abord à l'effervescence artistique de Bucarest dans les années 1920 avant de s'installer en France et rejoindre le groupe surréaliste en 1933. Dans son enfance, il assiste à des séances de spiritisme organisées dans la demeure familiale. Cet univers magique et superstitieux ne l'abandonnera jamais et imprégnera par la suite sa création artistique.

On the occasion of the exhibition "Alberto Giacometti / André Breton, Surrealist friendships", the Institut Giacometti proposes, in partnership with the Association Atelier André Breton and the collection Phares, a programme of documentary films devoted to surrealist artists and writers: Jacqueline Lamba, Max Ernst, Claude Cahun, Victor Brauner, Dora Maar, Yves Tanguy and André Breton.

Born in Romania, Victor Brauner first participated in the artistic effervescence of Bucharest in the 1920s before moving to France and joining the Surrealist group in 1933. As a child, he witnessed spiritualist sessions in the family home. This magical and superstitious universe never left him and subsequently influenced his artistic creation.
