We are so excited to announce our super fun Barkhamsted Olympics Theme for this year’s spirit week!  

 The Barkhamsted Summer Recreation camp week will be held on July 26-30th and begins the day at the Peoples State Forest Matthies Grove Pavilion.  The camp is for ages 4 to entering Grade 8!  The children will be divided up into three separate groups for some of the activities during the day.  We have a variety of new and enjoyable activities planned for your child to enjoy this year and hope they will be attending camp right here at our fun and interactive camp in Barkhamsted!  Each day, we have special events planned with guest visits that make our camp extraordinary.  This year’s camp theme is Barkhamsted Olympics! We pack a summer’s worth of camp all in one week and your children’s incredible memories will last a lifetime.   Your child will have a blast and no year is ever the same at Recreation Camp.  Sign up today!  Hurry spaces are limited.

Children ages 4 to entering Grade 1 in the fall can attend the half day camp from 9:00 A.M. until 12 noon.  The campers will have a fun filled and active morning while playing a variety of team building games, making quality arts and crafts, singing songs, enjoying snacks and making new friends.  Parents are asked to pick their children up beginning at 11:45 and no later than 12:00 p.m.  Children in Grades 2-5 will be divided in groups according to grade and children in Grades 6-8 will have a great time in our Adventures in Leadership camp while also learning valuable mentorship skills while team building and playing a variety of super fun, challenging and interactive activities, games and making quality arts and crafts.  There will be guest visitors throughout the week and special treats!

At noon the children in Grades entering 2 to 8 will take the bus to East Beach for lunch, games, crafts and supervised swimming. (This is contingent upon the MDC opening the Beach this summer)  If we are unable to go to the waterfront this year we will continue our day at Peoples State Forest Matthies Grove Pavilion or in the event of rain, The Community Room at the Town garage. We will have a variety of enriching alternative activities if we are unable to go to the waterfront.  All parents and caregivers will be notified as soon at the waterfront is determined.  The fee for camp is $190.00 for full day (Grades 2 to 8) and $105.00 for half day ages 4-entering Grade 1 before  Monday, June 7.  From June 8-June 14,  the full day camp price is $200.00 and half day is $115.00.  Please register before June 7 to avoid the late registration fee.  Also, we will be offering $5.00 off per camper for a family that enrolls more than one child in camp before June 7.  (Discount starts with second child)  The final day of camp registration is Monday, June 14 or when the maximum enrollment is reached.

If your child has any allergies/medical concerns or food sensitivities please indicate this on the emergency card. Additional paperwork will be required for Epi-Pens that needs to be completed by a doctor before Monday, July 5, 2021. These forms are available on the town website- www.barkhamsted.us under the Recreation Section and at Town Hall.

Payment is due upon registration. The final deadline will be Monday, June 14 unless the program meets its maximum before this date. In order to have the best possible experience for your child and allow for proper planning, equipment and supervision-Please register prior to the deadline! (The children’s groups are formed and staff is hired based on the number of sign-ups by the deadline date)

In case of severe inclement weather, Summer Camp can be cancelled with no make-up day or refund. However, we still try to run camp rain or shine and utilize the Community Room on Route 44 at the Highway Department in rainy situations.  

PLEASE NOTE: We ask everyone to check their temperature before coming to camp each day and if participants have a temperature, over 100 please do not attend.  Also, please do not have your child attend the program if they are feeling ill or  if you or any family members/close contacts are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19.  All participants must wear a face mask when social distancing is not possible.  Please be sure to have your child wear and bring an extra face mask to camp daily.
 
COVID-19 safety precautions along with CDC guidelines, as well as state and local policies are followed for our camps.

Please complete the registration form below and mail or drop off your payment for camp  to: The Town of Barkhamsted Recreation Department-- 67 Ripley Hill Road, Pleasant Valley, CT 06063-0558   Please  Use the white mailbox in front if you are dropping off your check after hours.  (Please be sure to include your child’s name and grade with the payment)
All forms must be complete with payment in order for your child to be registered.
Parents and Caregivers will be emailed a camp info and welcome letter after the registration deadline.
