FIRING SERVICE - PROJECT INFO
To ensure safety and optimize the firing outcome, we would like to notice for the procedure of firing pots.
Please read the information below firstly, and tell us a bit about your projects.

  1. We offer communal firing at 1,000C for Bisque firing and 1,260C for glaze firing.
  2. The clays for making pots must be any type of stoneware clay unless you want to hire the whole kiln to fire at the specific temperatures.
  3. Generally, most of pots need to be fired at 1,000c first then glazed and fired at higher temperature and we take this as a common procedure in firing.
  4. If the pots have not been fired at 1,000C, they have to be fired first and will be ready to be glazed.
  5. Pots must be glazed prior to the second firing at 1,260C.
  6. Glazing is your own task, and you could buy brush on glaze bottle from local supply stores. (Any shinny or satin glaze within the temperature range of 1,240 to 1,280c)
  7. If you know how to you dipping glazes, you can book our project session to glaze your pots. ($42 for 2 hours, but our glazes should not be used as a commercial purpose.)
  8. All of glazed pots must have cleaned and unglazed feet which is going to touch the kiln shelf directly. Otherwise, it will be permanently fused onto the kiln shelf and damage it. (Eg. Foot-ring, flat base and some clearance in case of the glaze runs down.)
  9. If the glazes are not within the temperature range, it could cause either paddling down and damaging the kiln, and pots around or failing to develop glaze surface. (Eg, Earthenware or other mid-fire clay being fired at 1,260C, it will bring the issue mentioned in this sentence.)
  10. If the pots do not have issue above, they will be mostly right to be fired.
