When can your society use this application form to apply for funding?
- If you are a fully affiliated society with the Students’ Union
- If your society requires additional funds for specific activities
- Examples of activities or purposes:
- Purchasing essential materials or equipment for starting up the society
- Subsidising costs of an event to ensure all members can afford to attend
- The maximum amount per funding request is £200
- You must be a member of your society's committee to submit an application
What happens after you submit your application?- Your application will be reviewed by the Vice President Student Development and the Student Opportunities Coordinator
- Approval of applications, and the amount of funding allocated, will take into consideration:
- Efforts of the society to raise its own funds through fundraising activities or member contributions
- The number of members in your society
- The impact the funding will have on your society members or the wider student population
- The amount of Students’ Union funding available for societies
- You will be told the outcome of your application within 7 days of submitting your application (You may be asked for more information or advised to adjust your proposed expenses)
- If your application is approved, the agreed amount will be transferred to your societies bank account with the Students’ Union
- The money can then be used for the specific purpose outlined in your application by:
- Purchasing items and submitting an expenses form
- Requesting the Students’ Union to purchase items directly by credit card or bank transfer
The Societies Executive Committee will review all societies funding to ensure it is being allocated fairly and in the best interests of UWS students
