Rebuilding Stronger Phase 2 — Meeting 6 Questionnaire
On June 23rd, IPS and members of the district’s Rebuilding Stronger Advisory Committee held their sixth meeting to advance Phase 2 of the Rebuilding Stronger Initiative.
During the meeting, the committee and the IPS administration and Board members:
• Reflected on input collected from all stakeholder conversations from the prior meetings (Facilities, Enrollment/Choice, Financial Sustainability, and Student Experience) and presented potential solutions linked to the feedback provided
• Reviewed Potential Solutions including:
o More Great Schools: Replicate and expand high-demand, higher-performing programs
o Grade Reconfiguration: Shift from our current approach (a mix of K-6s, K-8s, and 7-8s) to K-5s and 6-8s.
o School Consolidation: Closing or merging schools with very poor facility conditions, low overall
utilization, and/or a very low and limiting student capacity.
o Enrollment Zones: Divide district into geographic zones, with families having a choice of schools
within their zone.
o Eliminate Proximity Priority: Remove proximity priority from lottery logic, giving all students in a given
zone an equal chance of earning a seat at a preferred school.
• Spent time sharing reflections/wonderings in reaction to the potential solutions proposed.
Now it’s your turn!
The district wants to hear from all IPS stakeholders during Phase 2, so please take a few minutes to answer the following questions before 11:29 p.m. on July 10, 2022.
