SOUP Urban Initiative Application Fall 2023

DUE SEPT 15th at 11:59 PM

Urban Initiative is the branch of Science Olympiad at the University of Pennsylvania that provides after-school mentorship in Science Olympiad to students at Philadelphia high schools. In the past, Philadelphia high schools have underperformed at invitationals as wells as Pennsylvania State Science Olympiad district competitions. To help Philadelphia public school students better prepare for competitions like SOUP, we partner with high schools in the district to tutor students in a 2:1 ratio in preparation for Science Olympiad competitions.

This application form includes 3 sections: new member application, placement availability, and placement leader interest. Member commitments include weekly placements, monthly debrief meetings, and monthly casual socials.

Please note that all volunteers will be required to undergo thorough background checks and fingerprinting upon acceptance into SOUP Urban Initiative because we work with minors. SOUP will cover all associated costs.
