The essence of a datathon is to merge concepts and skills from different sources of knowledge to achieve more appropriate and successful solutions to complex problems. For that purpose, teams must be composed by enthusiastic people with different background, who share teamwork skills and love working in interdisciplinary environments. To solve clinical questions with electronic data, the role of physicians (contextualize and interpret), computer engineers (extract, transform and load data) and statistians / data scientist (visualize, explore and apply complex algorithms such as machine learning approaches to data) will be fundamental. Of course, the mentors will help teams throught all the process, from data accesion to results interpretation.

Although the short-term objective of the datathon is to learn, have fun and get the award, the middle-term objective is to continue working on the project in collaboration with your team mates until it gets the enough maturity and robustness to be published in a scientific journal.

During the registration form you will be asked to choose the profile that best fits your expertise, which will help the organizers to build balanced teams

And remember! We will provide access to Wi-Fi, data sets and free lunch and coffee. You must bring your own hardware (a laptop with Wi-Fi connection will be enough) and your data mining and lateral thinking skills.
