State of State Committee Application
Thank you for your interest in joining the State of State team! Below are a set of informal questions for our Executive Board to better know you and find your best fit in the State of State Team.

State of State is an organization that is committed to facilitating a dialogue within the university community about important Penn State-related issues. This dialogue culminates every year in a spring conference at which we bring together student, faculty, administration, alumni, and community leaders to speak about a variety of Penn State and State College topics, ranging from student life to mental health to town-and-gown relations. Our goal is to bring together passionate change-makers who can make our community stronger and more successful.

Community Engagement: Members work to build State of State’s relationships with the community beyond those who contribute financially. This is accomplished through creating interactive elements during the conference and throughout the year, as well as forming and maintaining personal and supportive relationships throughout the year. The committee serves as the connecting force between State of State and the greater community (including off campus and commonwealth community.)

Content: Committee members are responsible for meeting with faculty/alumni speakers and recruiting student speakers. They work on creating the student speaker application, selecting speakers, and helping speakers refine their topics and rhetoric once selected.

Public Relations: This committee helps to promote State of State events and build an on and off-campus presence. Responsibilities include designing flyers, pamphlets, and handouts for various State of State events, as well as helping to maintain a presence on social media. Members also put together videos and photos and maintain an up-to-date website as well as run the technical aspects during the conference.
