Session Description and Speaker Bio
Supporting and Affirming LGBT2Q+ students: Learn about and practice affirmative teaching and learning strategies for LGBT2Q+ students of all ages. This interactive and discussion-based workshop will direct you to information and resources to better support and empower LGBT2Q+ students.
This session will be presented by Dr. Alicia Lapointe (any pronouns) who is a course creator and instructor, workshop facilitator, consultant, researcher, and author in the areas of anti-oppressive policies and pedagogies. As a Research Scientist for the Centre for School Mental Health, Western University, Alicia facilitates and evaluates mental health promotion and healthy relationships programs and trainings to support Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Two-Spirit, Queer/Questioning (LGBT2Q+) youth; and designs and delivers equity-focused professional development to front line educators, administrators, and curriculum developers in multiple school boards and community agencies across Canada, including educators and Ministry staff in Ontario, Alberta, and the Northwest Territories.
