Plastic Free Chesterfield - volunteer expression of interest form
Plastic Free Chesterfield runs purely on volunteers. Without volunteers we cannot take action on single-use plastic. We are trying to build a Chesterfield community whereby all sections of the community are aware of the issues around single-use plastics. We would love you to join us in helping us to raise awareness about single-use plastics and work with our community to bring everyone on board with our campaign.

Stall volunteers: Talking to the public about single-use plastics, the alternatives, and the Plastic Free Chesterfield campaign
Being a friendly face to talk to about the issue can make a huge impact. Someone might have a question or frustration when it comes to reducing single-use plastics, so are looking to speak to someone about it. Plastic Free Chesterfield will be looking at having stalls at events as well as on the marketplace to engage the public. A briefing sheet will be provided but if you want to help produce and contribute to this, even better.

The voluntary sector make up a huge part of Chesterfield's community. Talking to Chesterfield businesses to sign up as a Plastic Free Champion
Businesses need to make at least three swaps away from single-use plastics. Business engagement can either be face-to-face (wearing masks) in the shop itself, or by writing an email and asking them to take action. Start by finding out what single-use plastics the business use in their operations, then once we have that we can look to finding alternative solutions. If businesses identify barriers, then we can look at addressing these.

Talking to Chesterfield schools to sign them up to the Plastic Free Schools programme
Educating children at an early age helps them to develop strong environmental values from an early age and this can make a difference growing up into adults too. The Plastic Free Schools programme gives the school and teachers all the resources they need to educate on the issues of single-use plastics and ocean conservation, along with exciting challenges the school can complete to achieve their very own Plastic Free School award.
