On July 16, 2021, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas ruled that the DACA policy “is illegal”, reversing the New York Federal Court ruling that had reinstated DACA last year. This means that those who currently have DACA, can apply for renewal. New applicants can submit an application, but DHS will not process until the case is resolved.
Thanks to the generosity of our donors, The Hispanic Liaison/ El Vínculo Hispano (EVH) is offering PARTIAL SCHOLARSHIPS to help DACA recipients with the costs of renewing DACA (currently $495). This partial scholarship is available for residents of Chatham, Lee, Harnett, Randolph and Alamance counties. Funds are limited and will be given on a first-come-first-serve basis.
IF YOU HAVE A DACA PERMIT, we recommend that you renew your DACA at least 6 months before it expires.
IF YOU NEVER HAD DACA and plan to submit a first-time application, we recommend that you speak with an immigration attorney or DOJ accredited representative (also known as BIA clinics). Call our office at 919-742-1448 to be referred to one.
