Diversity and Inclusion in Stem 
The Institute for Technology, Law & Policy and WE@UCLA are hosting a Diversity and Inclusion in Stem event on October 13th from 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM at Engineering VI, 404 Westwood Plaza, Los Angeles, CA 90095. 

Moderator: 
  • Audrey Pool O’Neal - Adjunct Associate Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and Director of Women in Engineering
Panelists:
  • Kathryn Kleiman -  Senior Fellow, Programs on Tech, Law & Security and Information Justice & Intellectual Property, American University Washington College of Law
  •  Achuta Kadambi -  Assistant Professor of ECE and CS, UCLA Samueli School of Engineering 
  • Adrienne Lavine -  Associate Vice Provost of the Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering
The purpose of this event is to bring together perspectives on diversity and inclusion in STEM for a conversation focusing on:
  • The challenges in promoting an inclusive research and educational environment
  • Why diversity and inclusion are important values to pursue
  • Potential avenues forward to improve representation and recognition of the achievements and potential of diverse communities in the sciences

After the panel, the UCLA Store will be offering sales of Professor Kleiman's new book,  Proving Ground, The Untold Story of the Six Women Who Programmed the World's First Modern Computer.  She will be signing.

Lunch will be provided. Please RSVP by 5:00pm on Friday, October 7th in order to receive lunch.
