Open Call for Imperial Lates: Play

Welcome to the open call for ideas form for the Imperial Lates on 9 March 2023 18:00-21:00. This free to attend event will use the theme of 'play’ to explore Imperial research through board games, video games, VR, music, arcade games, casino games and card games. This event will take place the day after International Women’s Day 2023 so any ideas with links to this are also welcomed.

Taking inspiration from the traditional museum lates experience, Imperial Lates offers adult visitors a relaxed sociable evening discovering new Imperial scientific discoveries through hands on demos, live experiments, inspiring talks and artistic workshops.

The Lates take place in the College Main Entrance of the South Kensington Campus and welcome between 500-1000 public visitors over the evening. These events are aimed at 18-35 year olds who have an interest in science, but who don’t necessarily work in science or have a connection to Imperial College.

We believe any area of Imperial research can be brought to life and made engaging through the concept of play and we would love to hear your ideas on how this theme could help you engage the public with your own science. Fully formed and developed activities are great but so are earlier stage aspirations or initial ideas.

Submit your ideas before 18 December 2022 and we will aim to get back to you before the Christmas break.

Please provide a brief overview of your broad research area and why it would be of interest to wider audiences:   *
Do you have any initial ideas for engaging people at the Lates through play? What will visitors be able to do or see?  *
Would you be interested in working with an artist to develop this into a participatory workshop?
