PRWA Additional Board Member
We are currently seeking additional volunteers to join our Board of Directors! Even as some Pittsburgh area restaurant workers return to their jobs, our work as an organization is far from over. We are continuing our efforts to support those working in our bars, restaurants, cafes, and clubs, both with food and financial resources, assistance in receiving additional public resources and funding, and advocacy to help push for more supportive and healthy work environments.

We are currently seeking three people to fill the roles of Board Treasurer and Board Member At Large positions. The duty of our Treasurer would be to manage our organization's budget and accounts, and to compile quarterly financial reports. Our Board Member At Large would act as a community liaison with other local stakeholders, activist groups, non profits, and neighbors. All Board positions require a 5-10 hour monthly commitment, with the attendance of monthly board meetings and occasional support work for our Distribution Center, fundraising efforts, online message board moderation, and public outreach.

Our board is currently comprised of seven members, all of whom were actively involved as workers in the food and beverage industry before the COVID-19 pandemic overturned our careers. Many of us have background experience, either professional or volunteer, in community organizing, non-profit management, political activism, and worker’s advocacy, and we bring our skills to the table along with those we learned as restaurant workers, such as food sourcing, handling, and distribution, crisis management, and teamwork. We are centering our mission around the changing needs of workers through our current crisis, and beyond.

Pittsburgh Restaurant Workers Aid is committed to building a diverse and inclusive Board of Directors.  We encourage folks from underrepresented populations to apply: Black, Indigenous & People of Color, parents of school-age children, immigrants, womxn, older adults, people with disabilities, people with low income, and folks in the LGBTQIA+ community.
